I wonder if writers will think twice from now on, before quoting that infamous remark by Liverpool manager Bill Shankley - that football isn't a matter of life and death: it's more important than that.
When a real tragedy like this intrudes, or Heysel or Hillsborough, it puts sport into perspective.

It certainly does. The worst thing in this case is that it's not even an accident (preventable or unpreventable), but a calculated, deliberate act.
