» alansbigplate - Should the Cricket World Cup tournament stop play in respect?

I've just posted a blog entry on the murder or Pakistan cricket coach Bob Woolmer - http://internationalevents.suite101.com/...

It's a tough and sensitive subject, but I believe events should not be cancelled in such circumstances. However, I think both sides of the argument deserve an airing, so if you've any opinions on the matter, please post them here.

I wonder if writers will think twice from now on, before quoting that infamous remark by Liverpool manager Bill Shankley - that football isn't a matter of life and death: it's more important than that.

When a real tragedy like this intrudes, or Heysel or Hillsborough, it puts sport into perspective.

It certainly does. The worst thing in this case is that it's not even an accident (preventable or unpreventable), but a calculated, deliberate act.
